We’re still giving Ravenswood props for killing off one of its main characters in the second episode, but will Miranda Collins (Nicole Gale Anderson) stay dead? We think there’s a chance, especially considering the title of the Ravenswood winter premiere (Season 1, Episode 6: “Revival”). Is Miranda getting “revived”?
Yes, Miranda is coming back to life
Even since Miranda kicked it in Season 1, Episode 2 (“Death and the Maiden”), we’ve thought there’s a decent chance this savvy teen might find a way back to the living, and the winter premiere could be her chance. According to the official synopsis, “Fresh off his trip to Rosewood, Caleb struggles to deal with the aftermath of his brief time with Miranda on the other side.” Could part of that struggle be a determination to find a way for Miranda to come back? It seems a little far-fetched, but our Caleb is a determined sort. As for Miranda’s part in the episode, it seems she will be devoting much of her time to haunting Mrs. Grunwald. Sounds like a good plan to us. If anyone knows what’s going on in Ravenswood, it’s the pale-eyed housekeeper of Mr. Collins. Will Mrs. G. reveal a loophole in the Ravenswood Curse? Perhaps, a way to bring Miranda back from the other side?
No, the revival is less literal
On the other hand, “revival” has meanings outside of a literal definition of someone coming back from a dead or near-dead state. It could refer to the revival of the show itself from hiatus, or perhaps a revival of these teenager’s search for the truth. Or, most likely, the revival Caleb experienced in the fall finale that brought him back from death. There’s also Remy to consider. Ravenswood’s very own Nancy Drew will be exploring the power of her dreams in the winter premiere. According to the synopsis, “Remy realizes her dreams may be the best clue they have into understanding the pact, but she unwittingly attracts something that is determined to make sure Remy doesn’t wake up.” Yikes! Sounds like everyone of the Ravenswood Five could do with a revival. (Olivia’s needed in the form of a realization that her boyfriend, Dillon, is Team Ghost.)
No, but she will be resurrected eventually
Unfortunately, we don’t think it’s very likely that Miranda will be brought back after only a half-season, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have hope for her corporeal self. In the fall finale, we learnt that two Ravenswood residents sacrificed themselves in 1919 so that they might bring break the Curse and bring Original Miranda and Original Caleb back to life. The Five think they may have succeeded in our Miranda and Caleb, aka doppelgangers of the Original Miranda and Caleb who died almost one hundred years ago. But how broken is the Curse? Because Olivia, Remy, Luke, and Caleb survived (for now), will they be able to bring Miranda back? Furthermore, could someone perform a similar suicide sacrifice pulled back-in-the-day to bring our Miranda back to life (preferably actual Miranda and not another doppelganger)? We think Raymond Collins might be up to something like this. And we know he cares about his niece, even if he doesn’t demonstrate that affection in the traditional ways.
I’ve added stills from all the episodes of Ravenswood, including the next episode which airs January 7 entitled “Revival” to our gallery. That’s not all though! I’ve added additional stills from the pilot episode, set one of the promotional cast photos as well as a second set that was recently released. Head to the gallery to check them out.

At the end of Ravenswood’s mid-season finale (Season 1, Episode 5: “Scared to Death”), we discovered Olivia’s boyfriend Dillon was up to no good with evil ghost girl Max. But what exactly are they up to?
TVLine recently chatted with executive producer Oliver Goldstick about Dilllon’s mysterious motives, and he shed some light on the enigmatic Ravenswood resident. “You’ll find out why he talks to that little girl — he’s got a good reason, too,” he said. “He is a mortal, he’s not an evil being. But he basically has access to something else and you’ll find out why.”
He obviously has access to the Other Side, right? How else would he be able to communicate with Max? We know Dillon has a “connection to the past,” so it’s possible that he had a past life similar to Caleb and Miranda’s.
While we’re not sure what Dillon’s motives are — is he trying to make sure the curse goes according to plan? — we do know that he’ll be getting closer to Olivia when Season 1 returns in January 2014. Perhaps Dillon knows the truth about what happened to Luke and Olivia’s father. According to Oliver, “the legacy of the curse, where it comes from, how it’s going to impact their lives now and what happened to Luke and Olivia’s father because of it” will be the focus of the winter season.
ABC Family’s Ravenswood’s midseason finale “Scared to Death” details and its return date are revealed. Plus, when is Pretty Little Liars’ Ashley Benson appearing on Ravenswood?
Ravenswood will air its midseason finale “Scared to Death” on November 19 as its fifth episode of the first season. The episode will see Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) frustrated by the lack of answers while romantic drama abounds for Caleb, Remy (Britne Oldford), Luke (Brett Dier), Olivia (Merritt Patterson), and Dillon (Luke Benward). Hanna (Ashley Benson) will travel from Rosewood to Ravenswood in this episode to deal with her relationship with Caleb.
“Just when Caleb thought he was getting answers to what may be haunting Ravenswood, he hits a dead end and is left with more questions. Miranda tries to prove that she’s where she wants to be, but Caleb senses she’s in grave danger. Remy unwittingly uncovers a major clue into the how to break the curse, but further investigation leads to a truly haunting scene. Meanwhile, Caleb tries to reassure Hanna, Luke tries to get on the same page with Remy, and Olivia strives to reconnect with Dillon.”
Can you believe the midseason finale is so soon? What do you want to happen? Do you think long distance can work for Hanna and Caleb?
We’re a little disoriented by ABC Family scheduling. Ravenswood started in late October, following the Pretty Little Liars Halloween special. We’ve had one episode since, which means we’re through two of the five-episode order. Will we be getting more heart-stopping episodes after that?
It looks like we will only have five — for now. But Ravenswood will be coming back after a short hiatus on January 14, 2014 — aka on the same night as PLL begins its winter season. We know that seems like a lengthy wait, but there’s plenty to look forward to in the mean time! Keeping the short season order in mind, it seems that showrunner Marlene King has crammed the remaining three episodes full of drama! In response to a question about how many Ravenswood episodes in total we will be getting, Marlene tweeted: “Five. And trust me, you do not want to miss the next 3!”
We can only imagine what Marlene can do with another three episodes, given that the first two have already seen all five main characters nearly killed multiple times — and one of the five teenaged protagonists actually dying before reappearing as a ghost. Yeah, this show may move even faster than its PLL counterpart. The next episode to look forward to is Season 1, Episode 3: “Believe.” In it, we’ll get to see Miranda’s funeral — and so will Miranda, who is attending as a ghost. What will her ghost get up to next? We’ll have to wait and see!
In a new preview clip from Ravenswood Season 1 Episode 1, Caleb is snooping around for information about a chilling graveyard sighting. So what does he do? He visits Miranda’s uncle, Raymond Collins (Steven Cabral), who happens to be the town’s coroner. While there, he questions the guy about the confusing situation in the cemetery, namely that his and Miranda’s photos and names are carved onto tombstones. Yikes!
“There was nothing vague about it,” Caleb argues when Raymond tells him that he was simply halluncinating and shouldn’t make too much out of a faded photograph. “The only difference between him and me was a haircut.”
